BAUR Shirla 10KV Cable Sheath Testing & Fault Location System

The BAUR Shirla Sheath Test and Fault Location Device is used for cable and cable sheath testing, and for the pre-location and pin-pointing of faults of the cable sheath and faults due to earth contact. The measuring bridge is dimensioned specifically for power cables, but also enables pre-location for control and lighting cables. Once the fault is located, the distance is shown in meters, with various cable sections able to be entered, which increases the accuracy of the measurement.

The Shirla utilises the bridge principle according to Murray and Glaser, which helps with fault pre-location. This method is optimised for power cables, but is also able to be used for control and lighting cables. The BAUR Shirla is able to generate pulsed voltages up to 10kV, and includes four selectable pulse pattern as well as a switch-on delay and operating time.

The BAUR Shirla features adjustable voltage and current limitations and supports automatic measurement sequences and reporting. Once data has been collected, it will be automatically exported to a USB stick or via a USB interface, with the ergonomic device and interface easy-to-operate and understand. Included with the Shirla is an integrated discharge unit, as well as a connection for an emergency off unit, which ensures the instrument operates in accordance with EN 50191.
