Chauvin Arnoux PEL115 Power Energy Logger
The Chauvin Arnoux PEL115 Power Energy Logger is an exceedingly well-constructed piece of kit designed to be suitable for all types of electrical networks and ideal for installation on electricity poles. The PEL 115 includes 4 voltage inputs & 4 current inputs, will automatically recognise the sensors connected and vitally, can be operated without having to cut off the mains power supply. Recording continuously with only a brief interval of 200ms between each measurement, this power logger measures and records all the relevant data for energy consumption diagnostics. Capable of 5 readings per second and recorded simultaneously on each phase, all data is captured as per the IEEE 1459 standard. Thanks to vast measurement ranges, voltage up 1,000 VAC/VDC and current up to 10 kVAC / 5 kVDC, the PEL 106 can log power values up to 10 GW/GVar/GVA, and energy up to 4 EWh/EVAh/EVarh.
The PEL115 Power Energy Logger performs the following measurements:
Analogue measurements
When used with remote L452 loggers, the PEL115 can be utilised to identify each of the individual dysfunctions by recording external parameters such as pressure, temperature, and torque, therefore refining the final analysis. Communicating via a wireless Bluetooth link, this recording function can integrate up to 2 x 4 analogue channels, with these channels complimenting the voltage, current and power measurements. This feature can also be used to analyse a temperature-affected motor or electrical transformer station, making it ideal for applications involving new energies such as wind or water.
The analogue measurement function of the PEL115 Power Energy Logger creates the possibility of linking electricity generation to a wind speed, or a hydro-electric current to a flow-rate. Wind turbines where the electrical energy produced is directly linked to the strength of the wind or hydro-electric dams which depend on the water flow-rate, can be accurately measured for precise energy efficiency. Notably the PEL115 meets all the requirements needed for working with applications in the renewable energies sector.
Advanced Functionality
Measurements captured by the Chauvin Arnoux PEL115 Power Energy Logger are done so through current sensors and voltage inputs. By catching every detail of the electrical consumption in a workshop, factory, agency or building these units can be used simultaneously for real-time oversight, comparative analysis and power allocation. Operators are able to easily compare any readings from before and after any installation modifications thanks to each recording being time & date stamped.
Self-powered via its voltage inputs up to 1000V, this built-in feature aids the PEL115 in avoiding battery problems by drawing powering directly from the phase. In addition, a built-in Alarm mode allows users to define limits, create a list of recorded events and even automatically receive an email alert should a predetermined limit be passed. The PEL 115 is also equipped with an SD/SD-HC card for data backup from several months or even years, highly useful during lengthy measurement campaigns.
Compact All-Terrain Casing
Portable and rugged, the PEL115 casing is resistant to shock, UV light and high temperatures. Rated IP67 when closed and IP54 open, this hard-wearing unit is safety rated CAT IV 1000V and comes complete with an optional hook for mounting. Protected by the outer shell, the LCD screen is both bright and fully digital with an easy-to-read quadruple display.
Multiple Communication Modes
Measurement campaigns can often last far longer than an engineer is expected to stay on-site, however it is still important to check the PEL115 is functioning correctly during operation. All Chauvin Arnoux PEL115 units are equipped with multiple communication modes; WiFi, 3G-UMTS/GPRS, LAN (Ethernet), Bluetooth, USB ports and compatibility with Android application. With the new 3G/GPRS mode, users can insert a SIM card for remote connection via a GSM 3G link. Measurements can be monitored in real time and the data can be recovered remotely from anywhere in the world.
IRD Server
Accessing the PEL115 Energy Logger via an IRD server is exceptionally useful as should an alarm be triggered, the engineer will receive an immediate email. If access to the unit is complicated, perhaps due to the protective systems on today’s IT systems or you're simply far away, the IRD server allows you to view measurements remotely via the internet and without endangering said protective IT systems.
Android App
The FREE multilingual Android App compatible with the PEL115 is a dedicated method of checking functionality and modifying configurations. An incorporated Bluetooth connection enables users to communicate with the device through their smartphone or tablet.
Impressively, the App also enables measurements for applications on motors; rotation speed, torque and engine efficiency. There is no longer a need to add specific sensors for this task as a software sensor developed by Chauvin Arnoux is fully incorporated.
PC Software
Equipped with a Wifi interface, access the PEL115 from any PC by means of the PEL Transfer software. The Power-Energy logger can be configured as a Wifi access point operating on the 2.4 GHz radio frequency band.
The PEL Transfer software analyses the data recorded and directly calculates the cost of the power consumed, displaying the result in the selected currency.
This application software also lets you:
- Configure the PEL115
- Check the connections before starting to record
- Download the measurements recorded in the PEL104
- View the various measurement results and analyses
The DataView processing software is built to provide users with a method of creating certified or customised reports. Generate energy consumption reports easily thanks to this software interacting directly with user-set alarm thresholds.
