Fluke 116 True RMS Multimeter

The Fluke 116 True RMS Multimeter is a very versatile multimeter which features AC/DC voltage measurement up to 600V, resistance measurement, capacitance measurement and frequency measurement. The device can also carry out continuity and diode testing in addition to showing readings millivolt whilst microamp measurement makes it suitable for testing flame sensors. Finally, there is also an option for temperature measurement between -40˚C to +400˚C via the Type K thermocouple that comes as standard with the Fluke 116 which makes it suitable for inspecting HVAC systems.

The measurement process is accelerated and simplified by the advanced features of the Fluke 116. Firstly, the device can automatically detect whether voltage is AC or DC whilst low input impedance (LoZ) testing eliminates problems caused by ghost voltage. True RMS measurement aids accuracy for AC values whilst auto ranging instantly chooses the best range and resolution for the parameter under inspection unless the user overrides it through manual ranging. Results are shown on the backlit LCD screen which has options for data hold and min/max/avg recording to give the user a detailed picture of a target system’s outputs.

The device inputs are rated as Cat III up to 600V for safety and there is a visual warning for dangerous voltage levels to add a further layer of protection. The Fluke 116 comes supplied with a type-K thermocouple and test leads and constitutes a really handy multimeter for use in the HVAC industry.
