The Megger BALTO Compact 4000 is the ideal solution for railway operators needing to test and maintain DC high-speed circuit breakers. It simplifies the process of verifying and adjusting trip current thresholds (lds) to meet OEM specifications, while offering a compact and mobile design that fits into tight workspaces. With the ability to generate precise test currents up to 4000A, the BALTO Compact allows complete functional testing of breakers, including current converters, protection relays, and measurement elements, all in one setup. Developed with direct input from railway network managers and breaker manufacturers, it is designed to meet real-world testing demands in the field.

Each BALTO Compact system includes a control unit with an intuitive operator terminal, battery-powered current generator with ultra-capacitors, and a durable cable set for simple connection. The system prioritises user safety with automatic system monitoring, temperature guarding, and self-diagnostic features. It manages current ramp-up smoothly and delivers accurate, real-time measurements throughout the testing process. Based on the larger BALTO Modular system, this unit is fixed at 4000A and not expendable, making it a straightforward, cost-effective choice for daily use in DC breaker testing.

Each Megger BALTO compact system comprises of a Control Unit, which has an operator terminal and power supply batteries boosted by ultra-caps and a charger, a Current Generator, which is limited to 4000A and is the power source, and a Cable Set for connection to the test piece.
