Megger EGIL Circuit Breaker Analyser

The Megger EGIL Circuit Breaker Analyser is a compact and affordable instrument designed specifically for testing breakers with one main contact per phase. Despite its smaller size, it incorporates many of the features found in larger, more complex systems, making it the ideal choice for use in smaller power plants or as a supplementary tool for maintenance teams in larger utilities. EGIL features three timing channels with a common ground, allowing simultaneous measurement of main contacts, including those with pre-insertion resistors. It also includes two separate channels for auxiliary contact timing. Coil currents are measured automatically and displayed instantly on the built-in screen or printed via the integraed thermal printer. To simplify setup, the system comes with pre-wired multi-cable sets for both main and auxiliary contacts. A built-in control unit prepares the instrument for the next breaker operation, streamlining the testing process.

The Megger EGIL is available as one of several options, with the user able to choose between a standalone product, or a choice of USB port, software, and accessories. To see what these kits comprise of, look at the ‘What’s in the Box?’ section at the bottom of this page, and if you have any questions about this or wish to enquire about a specific configuration, do not hesitate to get in touch with our team who will be happy to assist you in finding the right choice for you.

EGIL is designed for testing high-voltage circuit breakers with a single break per phase, typically at medium voltage levels. It records contact timings for main, pre-insertion resistor, and auxiliary contacts, as well as coil currents. The system also calculates key parameters based on IEC standards, such as opening and closing times, phase differences, over-travel, and CO/OC times, which are included in the test report.
