Megger MIT415/2 Cat IV Insulation Tester

The Megger MIT415/2 Cat IV Insulation Tester is a highly versatile insulation testing instrument which is principally suited to electrical and industrial applications but is also a useful tool for electrical installations, cable testing, motor testing, automotive applications, ESD, panel building, avionics and other maintenance.

The Megger MIT415/2’s feedback-controlled test voltage for insulation testing is accurate to within +2% and the user gets the choice of 10V, 25V, 50V, 100V, 250V or 500V so testing is both accurate and versatile. The extra-low test voltages of 10V and 25V make the device suitable for specialist uses in telecommunications, aviation and voltage-sensitive electrical installations. A pass/fail indication is shown on screen whilst the test voltage and insulation reading are displayed simultaneously. An ‘analogue’ arc shows readings dynamically. Advanced insulation-test features include polarisation index (PI) and dielectric absorption ratio (DAR) functions whilst the MIT415/2 also offers the option to toggle the display between kΩ and 105, for example. Automatic voltage detection prevents testing when dangerous voltage is present, thus making the process much safer. It is rated as Cat IV up to 600V so the user can have confidence when using the Megger MIT415/2.

The continuity testing capabilities of the Megger MIT415/2 are also impressive. There is now a single resistance range, replacing the old Ω/kΩ ranges, from 0.01Ω to 1MΩ. The user can select from test currents of either 200mA or 20mA whilst lead resistance compensation aids accuracy. A buzzer alarm can be set to sound when resistance crosses user-defined thresholds from 0Ω to 200Ω.

The Megger MIT415/2 has True RMS voltage measurement up to 600V AC/DC and also shows frequency automatically during tests so the user gains another valuable measurement capability from his/her purchase.

The weatherproof case is completely sealed and means that the Megger MIT415/2 complies to IP54 standard whilst the over-moulded design is shock absorbing and ergonomic. Overall, it is a versatile, advanced and accurate insulation tester with applications in a vast array of different industries.
