Megger SMRT410 4 Channel Relay Tester

The Megger SMRT410 4 Channel Relay Tester combines high compliance voltage and high current output to test all electromechanical, solid-state, and microprocessor-based overcurrent relays. This includes voltage controlled, voltage restraint and high impedance directional ground overcurrent relays. The SMRT410 also provides a complete multi-phase test system for commissioning of protection systems. With up to 4 voltage channels, and 6 high current channels, this channel relay tester is able to meet every testing need, and also provides high power in both voltage and current channels to test on nearly all types of protective relays. Customisability is also at the forefront of the SMRT410’s abiliites, with the user able to add the number of Voltage-Current, “VIGEN”, modules needed for specific test applications.

The Megger SMRT410 can be manually controlled with Megger’s stand-alone Smart Touch View Interface (STVI) handheld controller, which features a large, easy to read full colour, high resolution, TFT LCD touch screen. This allows the user to perform manual, steady-state, and dynamic testing quickly and easily using the manual test screen, with the option to use built-in preset test routines for most popular relays. The STVI and the onboard display essentially eliminates the need for a computer when testing virtually all types of relays. Touch screen function buttons are provided to select the desired test function quickly and easily. Test results can then be saved to the STVI or onboard display’s internal memory for later download to a USB Thumb drive to transfer or print test reports.

Every SMRT unit is supplied with Relay Test Management Software (RTMS) for installing on a PC, which can then be installed on as many customer-owned computers as required. The testing system can be customised by adding the number of voltage/current, “VIGEN”, modules needed for specific testing applications, for a maximum of six channels. For example, the SMRT410 with four VIGEN modules and one DIGEN module provides six-phase currents and four-phase voltages for testing of transformer differential, three-phase impedance, directional power, negative sequence overcurrent and other devices that require a three-phase four-wire wye connected sources. Each current channel is rated for 32A at 200VA RMS continuous, and up to 60A at 319VA RMS for short durations. For relay panel and electromechanical relay testing, the system features a flat power curve from 4 to 32 A, ensuring consistent maximum compliance voltage. Each current channel delivers up to 50 V RMS, and when two channels are connected in series, they provide 100 V—ideal for testing high-impedance relays. When three channels are paralleled, the unit can output up to 180 A at 957 VA for testing instantaneous overcurrent relays.

Manual Operation

Megger RTMS in conjunction with the Smart Touch View Interface (STVI) touch screen allows the user to perform manual, steady-state and dynamic testing quickly and easily. It has been ergonomically designed with a control knob and touch screen. The most significant feature of Megger RTMS software is the ability to provide the user with a simple, manual way to test, from simple overcurrent relay to the most complex relays manufactured today. The STVI controller eliminates the need for a computer when testing, with enhanced graphics, intuitive menu screens, and touch screen icon buttons provided for ease and speed.
