The Megger TRAX Multifunction Transformer and Substation Test System is a multifunctional solution for transformer and substation testing. The TRAX can be used for a range of applications, which range from power transformers to instrument transformers, circuit breakers and many other substation components. It includes a total of 10 generators, which are each tuned to the requirements of the specific test in which they are used. Combined with the widest range of inputs in the industry, the user will always be able to measure to the highest standard. Standard voltage and current output is 800A and 2200V (with the TRAX 280), but can be boosted further using instruments, DC measurements can be made with 100A true DC, not just rectified AC.

The TRAX can be tailored to suit any application and budget, and is available in versions with or without touchscreen as well as in versions for 200 or 800 A AC output. The application areas can be greatly expanded using auxiliary instruments, which are as follows:

• TDX120 – accessory for tan delta / power factor up to 12KV
• TCX200 – High current accessory for primary injection testing up to 2000A
• TSX303 – Automated 3-phase switchbox for one time connection which results in faster testing of power transformers
• TSX300 – Manual switchbox for easier connection during power transformer testing
• Line impedance kit – Kit for testing line impedance with TRAX

The TRAX system also comprises cable sets and connection accessories for any test imaginable.

The TRAX system features an app-based graphical user interface that is simple to learn and easy to use, with a common layout across all apps and the ability to store test object settings between sessions. This reduces training time and allows users to focus more on the testing. The apps are supplied in application specific packages for power transformers, instrument transformers, substations, and line impedance, with new apps and functionalities continuously added through software updates. TRAX maximises its hardware with advanced features such as winding and contact resistance measurement up to 100A true DC for high accuracy, adaptive algorithms for faster transformer demagnetisation, true dynamic resistance measurement of on-load tap changers, temperature-corrected tan delta and capacitance testing at 12kV/500mA, a built-in circuit breaker analyser, and a manual mode for troubleshooting or designing custom tests. It also ensures efficient data handling with a built-in report generator that compiles results as you test, along with options to export data as PDFs or to Megger’s PowerDB software. Connectivity is seamless, with USB data transfer, internet-based software upgrades, and PC remote control capabilities.
