Megger VLF Sine Wave 62 kV Test System

The Megger VLF Sine Wave 62 kV Test System is a multifunctional unit that supports VLF and DC testing, as well as sheath testing and sheath fault pinpointing when used with the ESG NT2 step voltage probe.  It also offers an optional integrated tan delta feature, enabling users to move beyond basic withstand testing and perform detailed assessments of cable condition and ageing.  The system’s smart VLF frequency control automatically adjusts test frequency based on cable length, ensuring accurate and consistent results, even on 35 kV‑rated cables up to approximately 25 km.

There is no need for an external computer during testing, thanks to the system’s intuitive onboard software and large 7‑inch colour touchscreen. Navigation is simple and responsive, reducing training time and making advanced diagnostics more accessible.  All test data is automatically evaluated and stored in the unit’s internal memory, with capacity for 1000+ measurements, ready for immediate review or later analysis.

Results can be exported via USB, and wireless transfer capability is planned as a future-ready feature.  Included MeggerBook Lite software allows users to process test data and generate professional reports efficiently, streamlining workflow from testing through documentation.

The system incorporates essential safety features such as breakdown detection, automatic discharge of the test object, and an analogue residual voltage indicator to keep operators informed of cable status throughout testing. These elements work together to minimise risk and support safe, controlled operation in demanding field environments.

For users requiring even deeper diagnostics, the system can be expanded with the optional PDS 62‑SIN partial discharge attachment. This upgrade transforms the VLF Sine Wave 62 kV into a comprehensive diagnostic platform capable of withstand testing, tan delta analysis, and partial discharge measurement, all from a single voltage source.
