The Vivax vCamDrain Sewer & Drain Inspection Camera System with Sonde (D18-HD) is primarily a sewer and drain inspection camera system designed for fast, straightforward inspection of small-diameter pipes, drains and ducts. Using a Wi-Fi reel and the vCam Mobile Controller (VMC) app, it allows operators to control key reel functions, view live video, record inspections and share files directly from a compatible smartphone or tablet. It is designed for work in lines from 1.5in to 3in / 40 to 75mm, making it a strong fit for plumbing and drain inspection applications.

A major strength of the system is its balance of image quality, portability and usability. The supplied D18-HD 18mm fixed-position camera head features 1080p HD resolution, a sapphire lens, 48-lumen LED lighting and a built-in sonde, while the 9mm custom pushrod is designed to offer both flexibility and pushing strength. Vivax states that this combination helps the system navigate multiple bends, tight turns, p-traps and most toilet traps, making it a practical choice for day-to-day drain inspection work.

As well as functioning as a camera inspection system, the vCamDrain also doubles up as a sonde-based locating solution thanks to the built-in sonde in the camera head. This means once the camera is in the line, its position can also be traced from above ground using the Vivax vLoc3-Cam, giving users the advantage of both visual inspection and location capability within the same workflow. The reel uses an internal lithium-ion rechargeable battery, delivers around 12 hours of intermittent use from a 6-hour charge, and supports direct recording either to the mobile device or to a USB drive up to 128GB via the reel.
