Megger DCI3 Cable and Phase Identifier
The Megger DCI3 Cable and Phase Identifier is designed to make cable identification faster, safer and more reliable. It can be used on both energised and de-energised systems, allowing operators to correctly identify cables or phases before cutting or spiking, therefore reducing the risk of injury, equipment damage and unplanned outages.
The DCI3 uses a high-current DC pulse method to deliver reliable cable identification across low-, medium-, and high-voltage networks, even over long distances of up to 30 km. Phase identification is done using an advanced passive clamp technology, which allows cable ends to remain safely grounded throughout the entire process. This approach not only improves operator safety but also simplifies workflow in the field. For more demanding environments, optional flexible clamps with a 150 mm diameter provide reliable performance on larger cable sizes or within confined switchgear.
Where live identification is required, the optional LCI transmitter allows for safe phase-to-phase identification on energised low-voltage systems up to 440 V AC, without interrupting service. This added flexibility makes the DCI3 suitable for applications such as routine maintenance, network expansion and fault prevention.
Operating it is straightforward thanks to an intuitive touchscreen interface that is supported by a robust, ergonomic design that stands up to harsh site conditions. Long battery life, fast recharging, and a second battery as standard help ensure minimal downtime. The DCI3 is also designed with future needs in mind, allowing additional options and accessories to be retrofitted easily at any stage.
