Megger DET2/2 Auto Earth Tester

This product has now been discontinued - please see the replacement the Megger DET2/3 High Resolution Earth Tester.

The Megger DET2/2 Auto Earth Tester is a robust, compact instrument designed for measuring earth electrode resistance and four terminal continuity tests. The DET2/2 may also make earth resistance tests to enable the soil resistivity to be measured. The four terminal method of measurement eliminates the resistance of the current circuit from the measurement. The circuit design ensures that the resistance of the potential circuit does not affect the measurement during practical testing. This Megger ground resistance tester is ideal for large, complex earthing systems and can also be used to perform archaeological and geological investigations. The resisitivity tests aid the design of a correct earth system and avoid the cost of re-working electrode installations.

Megger DET 2/2 Earth Resistivity Tester Features:

  • Earth resistance range of 0.010Ω to 19.99kΩ (auto-ranging)
  • High resolution of 1mΩ ideal for large earthing systems
  • High accuracy for earth electrode and soil resistivity testing
  • Test voltage 50V max. for safety
  • Rechargeable battery power with long battery life and rapid re-charge
  • A robust, versatile instrument with IP54 protection
  • Filter and high current features to enable valid earth testing in difficult situations

The Megger DET2/2 earth tester is microprocessor controlled and provides a user-friendly approach to earth testing by giving good error detection capabilities and full test information on a large easily readable alpha-numeric display. A simple key pad can be used to adjust the test frequency, the test current level and the filtering so that adverse conditions influencing the test may be overcome.

A wide band of test frequencies may be used to eliminate errors caused by noise in the earth. The chosen test frequency, test current level and the increased filtering option are stored in memory for use in subsequent tests. The maximum output voltage is limited to 50V for safety when performing a test and convenience when repositioning test spikes. The DET2/2 earth resistance tester is auto-ranging and will indicate earth resistance in the range of 0.010Ω to 19.99Ω with a maximum resolution of 1mΩ. The display warns of problems with the test conditions so that the user can re-position the earth spikes or change the instrument settings to achieve optimum conditions.

The DET2/2 is built into a robust plastic case and has its four terminals mounted on the front panel. The low service error and an IP54 environmental specification enable accurate results to be obtained in the most demanding of testing conditions. Power for the instrument is supplied from a rechargeable lead acid battery which gives 5 hours of life per charge, equivalent to six hundred individual tests lasting 30 seconds each.

NOTE: The Megger DET2/2 is not supplied with Earth Spikes and Leads. Recommended for the DET2/2 is the Megger 6310-755 Earth Testing Kit which comprises 4 x  galvanised steel spikes (‘L’ shape) 10 mm dia. x 350 mm long, 30 m (98,5 ft approx) of cable on a winder, 50 m (164 ft approx) of cable on a winder, Two 3 m leads complete with connectors and clips, Hammer.
