The Megger MPQ1000 Handheld Power Quality Analyser is an incredibly powerful datalogging device that fits in the palm of the user’s hand. As a three-phase analyser, it can assess over 20 different aspects of three-phase systems including RMS voltage/current, waveforms, demand data, harmonics, flicker, and unbalance. Class A categorisation certifies the accuracy and reliability of all readings. Such impressive capabilities make it suitable for applications ranging from energy usage verification to compliance testing and from motor inspections to troubleshooting on lighting.

To help the user make the most out of its sophisticated measurement, the Megger MPQ1000 has several features which facilitate the inspection process. The datalogger automatically recognises the attached probe so it is impossible to measure with an inappropriate range. Furthermore, all attachments are powered by the unit itself, thus avoiding the need for cumbersome additional connections. Connection verification makes sure that the unit is correctly configured and connected at all times. Examples of parameter-specific innovations include timed waveform capture for concurrent recording of PQ events and periodic waveforms as well as phase angle stability measurement to help diagnose the multiple, intermittent causes behind phasing problems.

Large measurement ranges for both AC voltage (1000V) and DC voltage (1000V) mean that the Megger MPQ1000 usually needs no additional instrument for taking measurements, even on complicated circuits, whilst a Cat IV 600V rating ensures it is safe to use on the vast majority of systems. The user can view real-time readings on the colour VGM screen in scope and DVM modes whilst complete records for any parameter can be saved to the device’s large SD-card memory. Improving storage capacity is as simple as switching to a larger SD.

Once data are recorded, there are a range of options for data transfer including SD-card, USB or Ethernet but it is also possible to carry out advanced analysis on the Megger MPQ1000 itself. Should the user choose to transfer the data over to a computer he/she will benefit from supplied Megger PQ Power Quality Analysis software to help analyse, edit and report findings.

Operating the Megger MPQ1000 is very easy thanks to its intuitive menus and simple measurement processes. Smart configuration is provided with the supplied software so setting up the datalogger is very easy. With a light, ergonomic design, the Megger MPQ1000 is an excellent combination of immense measurement capacity coupled with handheld practicality. Selecting the MPQ1000 Plus Kit in the menu above adds three CP-100CE-ID 100A Split Core current clamps to your purchase alongside the voltage leads, software, 32GB SD card, power adaptor, soft case, fused adapters and hanging strap from the basic kit.
