Megger S1-5682 Expert 5kV HV Insulation Resistance Tester
The Megger S1-5682 Expert 5kV HV Insulation Resistance Tester delivers accurate insulation resistance measurements up to 5kV and is designed for professionals who work in high-voltage environments such as power utilities, industrial facilities, and electrical service organisations.
The S1-5682 supports a full suite of insulation diagnostic tests, including Polarisation Index (PI), Dielectric Discharge (DD), Step Voltage (SV), Ramp Voltage, and advanced methods like PDC (Polarisation Dependent Current). It features Megger’s innovative RE>Act mode, which allows it to detect and compensate for reabsorption currents, improving measurement accuracy in challenging conditions. The patented PI Predictor (Plp) function accelerates testing by estimating PI results early, thus allowing for fast decision-making without compromising on reliability. With a resistance measurement capability up to 15TΩ and selectable test voltages from 250V to 5kV, the S1-5682 provides exceptional flexibility across a broad spectrum of applications such as cables, motors, generators, transformers, switchgears and more.
One of the standout features of the S1-5682 is its superior noise rejection that can operate effectively in environments with electrical interference up to 8 mA. Thanks to adaptive filtering and high-voltage noise suppression, the S1-5682 is suitable to use in substations and industrial sites where conventional testers may struggle. It also supports remote operation via USB, allowing technicians to conduct tests from a safe distance, which is especially useful in hazardous or high-voltage areas. Users can streamline asset management and reporting thanks to robust data logging, which includes time- and date-stamped results that can be transferred via USB or Bluetooth® to Megger’s CertSuite Asset or PowerDB software.
The S1-5682 features a dual-case design with a shock-resistant outer shell and a fire-retardant inner casing. It is rated IP65 when the lid is closed, offering protection against dust and moisture ingress. Safety is important with all Megger testing, with the S1-5682 boasting a CAT IV 600 V rating and reinforced insulation along with a 5-tier voltage warning system to ensure the user is protected during operation. Plus, it performs reliably in extreme temperatures ranging from -20°C to +50°C and at altitudes up to 3000 metres.
In terms of measurement performance, the S1-5682 delivers resistance accuracy of ±5% up to 1 TΩ and ±20% up to 10 TΩ, while supporting current measurements from 0.01 mA to 6 mA and capacitance measurements from 10nF to 25µF with ±10% accuracy. The S1-5682 operates on either rechargeable batteries or AC mains and comes complete with one medium insulated test leads (3 metres), a screened USB cable with filters, a remote control indicator beacon, and a free licence for CertSuite Asset Lite software.
