The Radiodetection SuperCAT4+ S Locator (Water and Drain Pipes) is part of the extremely impressive range from Radiodetection, with each utility-specific model supported by enhanced features and improved safety practices. The S locator employs a range of sonde frequencies to rapidly locate water and drain pipes. Lower frequencies can be used to trace cast-iron pipes whilst higher frequencies sondes are useful for detecting non-metallic pipes and conduits. The SuperCAT4+ S stands apart from the other SuperCAT4+ models by detecting the widest range of sonde frequencies.

Operating Modes

Failing to identify underground utilises can result in damages which may lead to outages, unnecessary repairs, delays and even personal injuries. Sondes allow cast-iron or non-metallic pipes to be traced, the depth of the pipe determined and precise location of any blockage identified. This model is optimised to detect sondes frequencies, however there are other detection modes included:

• Sonde Mode - Detects the signal radiated by a compatible sonde.
• Radio Mode - Detects long-range radio signals as they are re-radiated along buried metallic cables and pipes.
• Power Mode (50Hz /60Hz) - Detects the electromagnetic fields generated by loaded power cables.
• Active Line Mode (when using external T1 Transmitter) - Detects the T1 signals which are radiated by buried utilities.

Truly safe excavation can only be achieved by accurately locating buried assets, a task the Radiodetection SuperCAT4+ S Locator can perform both swiftly and simply. Additionally, an active 33kHz frequency can be applied to a FlexiTrace accessory through the use of a T1-640 Transmitter for continuous signal tracing.

Safety Features

All SuperCAT4+ models, including the S variant, are supplied with a range of safety features.

StrikeAlert - Despite guidelines insisting power cables are buried at a certain depth, it is not uncommon to find shallow cables. StrikeAlert warns the user of the presence of these incorrect utility lines and is automatically enabled for Power and Active Line Modes.

Depth Display - An automatic feature compatible with CPS and Active Line Mode, this will inform users of the accurate depth should conditions be suitable for a reading.

Dynamic Overload Protection - Typically found near substations or high-voltage transmission cables, high levels of electrical interference can overload some sensitive electronics. This protective safety measure will filter the interference out and enable the SuperCAT4+ CMS locator to continue operating successfully where other units may falter.

Built For On-Site Use

A light-weight, hard-wearing & IP54 rated unit, the Radiodetection SuperCAT4+ S Locator is protected by an ABS casing and suitable for all-weather operation. At the bottom of the device a replaceable boot protects against drops and knocks whilst on the handle, a high contrast screen features an auto-backlight function and bar graph display. The tactile interface includes a trigger switch for on/off, mode selector switch, detachable loudspeaker and sensitivity control dial. Powered by two D-Cell batteries, the locator is completed by a USB data port which ensures the unit can benefit from any future software upgrades.

T1-640 Transmitter

Enhance your SuperCAT4+ S Locator even further by introducing it to the Radiodetection T1-640 Transmitter. Exceptionally compact and portable, this highly useful piece of kit features simple frequency selection and an accessible accessory socket. While using the T1-640 Transmitter, your SuperCAT4+ S Locator can utilise Active Line Mode.

The T1-640 Transmitter offers a direct connection to a valve, meter, junction box or any other access point or when direct connection is not possible, it can apply a transmitter signal via induction to a pipe or cable. For an alternative to the direct or induction connection, it is also safe to combine the T1-640 with a clamp.
