Seaward PV:1525 1500V Solar PV Tester

The Seaward PV:1525 1500V Solar PV Tester is a next-generation, compact, and field-ready solar PV tester designed to commission, inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain photovoltaic systems. The PV:1525 streamlines testing and makes it efficient for PV installers and O&M engineers when verifying the electrical safety and performance of both residential and commercial solar installations. This allows them to deliver reliable results that are compliant with international standards such as IEC 62446 and EN 61557.

Comprehensive Electrical Safety Tests

The PV-1525 provides a full suite of electrical safety tests, including open-circuit voltage measurements that range from 5.0 VDC to 1500 VDC, with a resolution of 0.1 V. It also measures short-circuit current that ranges from 0.50 ADC to 25.00 ADC, with 0.01 A resolution that supports a maximum power measurement of up to 37.5 kW.

For insulation resistance testing, the PV:1525 offers selectable test voltages of 250V, 500V, 1000V, and 1500V DC (as per IEC61557-2) to detect insulation degradation or faults between PV conductors and earth, with a measurable range of 0.05 MΩ to 300 MΩ and a resolution of 0.01 MΩ.

For earth continuity tests, the PV:1525 delivers high-accuracy measurements that range from 0.05Ω to 199Ω (as per EN 61557-4), using a test current greater than 200 mA and an open-circuit voltage above 4 V DC nominal. It can also measure RPE voltage using 4 mm terminals to verify the safety of the earth connection with voltages ranging from 30V to 440V AC/DC. When paired with the optional wireless PV:1500V clamp meter, it can measure operating currents from 0.1 A to 40.0 A for both AC (50–60 Hz) and DC currents, enabling accurate, contactless current profiling during setup or maintenance.

Software and Connectivity

The PV:1525 has integrated Bluetooth connectivity, allowing seamless and efficient data transfer to the Seaward PV mobile app. The app supports result tagging, cloud syncing, and wireless firmware updates to keep the unit updated with the latest features. The app also supports wireless firmware upgrades, ensuring your instrument remains up to date with the latest features and improvements.

Design and Usability

The PV:1525 has been carefully designed with user experience in mind, featuring an intuitive interface, illuminated function buttons for guided navigation and testing as well as better visibility in low-light conditions, a 3.5-inch color display, and built-in memory that can store up to 1000 test records.

Unlike earlier models that relied on AA batteries for power, the PV:1525 uses a rechargeable 11.55V 2930mAh LiPo battery, giving users hours of extended operation on the go. This is a standalone unit that is supplied with a LiPo battery pack, charging cradle, and test lead sets. It does not include a carry case or software. However, the PV1500 Clamp and the SS200LR are available separately and can be added as optional accessories.
