The Megger MPAC208-IECEx Acoustic Camera for Explosive Environments includes all the capabilities of the standard MPAC208 but is specifically engineered and certified for safe use in explosive gas and dust environments. It carries IECEx certification rated for Group II 3G Ex ic IIC T5 Gc (explosive gas atmospheres) and Group II 3D Ex ic IIIC T100°C Dc (combustible dust). This makes it compliant for hazardous zones such as petrochemical refineries, gas processing plants, fuel storage facilities, chemical plants, grain silos and other dust-prone processing sites.

Just like the standard MPAC208, the MPAC208-IECEx features a 208-channel MEMS microphone array that works across a 2 kHz to 100 kHz frequency range. This make it ideal for identifying ultrasonic emissions from compressed air leaks, electrical partial discharge, and early‑stage mechanical deterioration. It supports a detection range from 0.5m to 200m, making it effective for both close‑up inspections and safe stand‑off assessments around high‑voltage or hard‑to‑reach equipment. The system includes built‑in leak‑rate and cost‑impact estimation, helping maintenance teams prioritise energy‑loss issues based on their financial impact.

The MPAC208-IECEx offers three straightforward core operating modes:
