Megger TDR2010 Advanced Dual Channel Time Domain Reflectometer

The Megger TDR2010 Advanced Dual Channel Time Domain Reflectometer is a sophisticated, dual-channel time domain reflectometer which is perfect for fault-finding on paired metallic cables within telecom TVN-3 circuits and 150V Cat IV power circuits. The highly advanced measurement capabilities mean that the minimum resolution is just 0.1m whilst a range of 20km can be tested at any one time (depending on velocity factor and cable type). The excellent versatility of the Megger TDR2010 is manifested in its five options for output impedance (25Ω, 50Ω, 75Ω, 100Ω & 125Ω) as well as a fully adjustable velocity factor (0.2 to 0.99) that is suitable for any cable set. In addition, a 2ns pulse makes it possible to conduct near-end fault location.

The Megger TDR2010 has a very straightforward user interface with navigation keys and soft keys whilst auto-select chooses the best settings based on the required range. This can, however, be manually overridden to make fine adjustments. The dual trace and cursor functions allow the user to instantly see the distance between two spots for ease of use.

Once data has been gathered, the Megger TDR2010 has several ways of displaying and analysing it. Most prominently, the backlit, colour, LCD screen displays readings graphically and clearly so faults are visible at a glance. The resolution and colour scheme can be adjusted to suit the user’s preferences and trace hold allows visual comparison of two traces on screen. The user can explore the trace using the AutoFind function which adjusts the range and gain before finding the first major event. Another press of the button will find the next major event but a user can also manually assess the trace if he or she so prefers.

Trace tagging makes use of the Megger TDR2010’s 100-trace internal storage by maintaining accurate records of circuit details next to every saved result. Saved traces can be shown on screen at any time or transferred to a computer via the supplied USB port, USB cable and TraceXpert software. The software allows the user to download, report and upload saved traces into a database quickly and simply in addition to providing for other data-processing needs.

The Megger TDR2010 is a highly sophisticated instrument with excellent data gathering features in addition to an advanced user interface and data display system.
