Fluke 233 True RMS Remote Display Multimeter

The Fluke 233 True RMS Remote Display Multimeter is an innovative instrument which has a fully detachable display unit in addition to comprehensive multimeter functionality. It can measure AC/DC voltage up to 1000V, AC/DC current up to 10A and resistance up to 40MΩ in addition to capacitance (9999µF), frequency (50kHz) and temperature (-40˚C to 400˚C). High basic accuracy is aided by true RMS whilst readings are always as precise as possible thanks to multiple ranges and resolutions. Continuity and diode testing are also useful additional functions on this meter.

The most prominent feature of the Fluke 233 is its fully detachable visual display unit. This simply slots in and out of the instrument’s main body and can display readings up to 10m away through a low-power radio signal. The data hold, min/max/average recording, range and brightness controls are integrated onto the unit so all the screen’s functions are fully operable away from the multimeter itself.

This functionality has useful applications and helps ensure user safety as the screen can be rested in the user’s line of sight when measuring awkward or hard-to-reach circuits and can even be taken to a safe distance when measurements are being taken in potentially hazardous settings. The screen has an integrated magnet on the back, thus allowing it to be mounted on metal surfaces for hands-free use.

The correct function can be chosen using the Fluke 233’s simple dial whilst an LED warning flashes in the event of dangerous voltage in order to safeguard the user. The meter is safety-rated as Cat IV 600V and Cat III 1000V and has a battery life of roughly 400 hours. A set of test leads is supplied as standard alongside a type-K thermocouple and crocodile clips.
