Micro-ohmmeters output a large amount of current to measure resistances of materials, cables, circuit breakers and busbars to name a few typical applications. Aircraft manufacturers may also use these very low resistance ohmmeters to check the stresses of airframe components under stress, whilst train manufacturers may use them to prove the rolling resistance of rail stock.
They typically have four sets of measurement probes; 2 probes to form an outgoing and returning current path from the instrument, and 2 probes to measure voltage at these measurement points. Once this data has been measured, the resistance is calculated by the instrument and displayed.
Some models are suitable for use outdoors, and more recently, others are even handheld which is impressive when you consider the large amount of current that they are designed to output. It is possible to record test data with certain models allowing for reporting and certification of application.
We supply micro-ohmmeters and ductors from manufacturers such as Megger, Chauvin Arnoux, T&R Test Equipment, Metrel and more; rest assured, we can supply a model that fits your requirement to the tee.
