Transformer testers and Megger oil test sets perform accurate breakdown voltage BDV tests on mineral, ester and silicon insulating liquids. We supply both portable and laboratory oil breakdown voltage testers Megger OTS ( Foster OTS).
We pride ourselves on the support we deliver from our industry experts
Transformers and other high voltage installations often used insulating oil as the main insulant. Mineral, ester and silicone oil are extremely effective insulators but do degrade over time resulting in the need to test their breakdown voltage. We stock Megger insulating oil testers for the field and the laboratory for exactly this purpose.
Insulating oil is commonly used in high voltage installations - particularly transformers - to act as the main mode of insulation thanks to its stability at high temperatures and highly resistant properties. Unfortunately, transformer oil does degrade over time which can make the cooling and insulation processes around a transformer less effective. To make sure that transformer oil does not need replacing, it is important to perform a breakdown voltage test using an insulating oil tester. We stock models from Megger that are suitable for either field or laboratory use.
