Megger TDR1000/3P Handheld Time Domain Reflectometer

With a lightweight, compact design, the Megger TDR1000/3P Handheld Time Domain Reflectometer is a portable device that is principally used for locating faults on metal cables in Telecom TNV-3 circuits or 150V Cat IV power circuits. The minimum resolution of 0.1m/0.3ft allows precise detection of cable faults and the instrument can inspect up to 5km of wire at once depending on the cable type and measurement velocity factor so it is extremely practical.

The user has the choice of output impedances of 25Ω, 50Ω, 75Ω and 100Ω whilst the adjustable velocity factor between 0.2 and 0.99 means that the Megger TDR1000/3P is suitable for any cable test. In particular, a 2ns pulse helps find faults near the end of cables. The trace hold function means that trace characteristics can be compared and contrasted which is a highly advanced feature for a handheld TDR.

The Megger TDR1000/3P also has several user-friendly features. It automatically selects the correct settings according to the required range, thus saving time when taking TDR measurements. The user interface has simple dial operation and navigation buttons with two cursors which give an instant indication of the distance between two points. The bright, backlit, greyscale display gives readings in graph form so key events on the trace are very clear. There is no need for power block filtering and the user can easily toggle between metric and imperial measurements.

An IP54 weatherproof rating certifies that the Megger TDR1000/3P can be used outdoors and it provides the user with impressive fault detection capabilities in a small, portable package that is very straightforward to operate.
