Radiodetection RD8200SG Cable and Pipe Locator

The Radiodetection RD8200SG Cable and Pipe Locator is the Survey Grade solution to combined mapping and utility locating, which enables the user to map buried utilities with pinpoint accuracy and maximum efficiency. Ergonomically designed for simple yet effective use, the user can tailor the instrument to suit their needs, selecting their preferred mobile app and correction service provider in order to find what works best for the business. The RD8200SG's rugged design allows for it to be used in the field, with protection against rain, dirt and extreme temperatures which would otherwise disrupt the location process. The cable and pipe locator can be used for a wide range of tasks, such as:

  • Mapping and locating buried power cables
  • Recording these maps on a mobile phone system
  • Building up an in-depth inventory of buried infrastructure networks

The RD8200SG has been designed to uncover the exact location of buried utilities, which would be left uncovered without the expense of highly-specialised and costly equipment.

Exceptional Performance

The RD8200SG comes with inbuilt Digital Signal Processing which allows for technicians to detect and uncover weak signals which are being produced, even by hard-to-locate utilities buried underground. It is equipped with five 'Active Locate Modes', which allows the user to select what will work best for them, and tailor the instrument to the environment and task at hand. They are Peak, Peak+, Guidance, Broad Peak, and Null, which all offer different sensitivities for the task at hand.

Peak+ Mode combines the accuracy that you receive from the Peak bargraph with a choice of Guidance or Null directional arrows. Guidance arrows give a visual indication of the direction to the target utility, expertly designed to get you close to to the Peak position faster before pinpointing the target utility. On the other hand, Null arrows allow you to test for distortion before marking a point, and can be used when accurate locate measurements are required.

Expertly Created

The Radiodetection RD8200SG is the only Radiodetection Cable and Pipe Locator that offers high-accuracy mapping which, coupled alongside advanced precision locating and GNSS positional location, makes this tool a must-have for technicians. It is also IP65 certified, which means it is safe against dust and jets of water from any direction. The RD8200SG has been designed to encourage proper handling and usage, whilst also minimising utility damage and improving on-site safety. The locators have an in-built gyroscopic measurement system which informs the user should an excessive swing be recorded.

The RD8200SG is also able to run a 'self-test', which can apply signals to locating circuitry as well as checking its own display and power functions. StrikeAlert will also alert the user of any shallow cables with both visual and audio warnings, preventing any incidents from occuring.
