Dilog DL9118 Multifunction Installation Tester

The British-made Dilog DL9118 Multifunction Tester is a 18th edition multifunction tester which performs a whole range of tests including those for insulation resistance, loop impedance, prospective short circuit current, continuity, RCD trip current/times, phase rotation and socket polarity. These functions are supplemented by a range of advanced features that are now widely considered as standard on contemporary MFTs.

Firstly, the unique RCD-LOC XLT non-trip loop test does provides a very accurate test result without the risk of tripping RCDs whilst the instrument’s auto-start function saves time without compromising accuracy. High current loop and line impedance testing adds another option in this important system test. Auto-start is also available for the PSCC test which has a direct readout to quickly determine whether protective devices meet the required standards.

Continuity testing is another string to the Dilog DL9118’s bow and boasts a null function to negate the effects of lead resistance alongside auto-start. For RCDs, the device can be used to check both trip time and trip current with sophisticated methods such as auto-testing and ramp current for improved speed and accuracy. Insulation resistance measurement is available with test voltages of 250V, 500V and 1000V whilst the voltage and frequency measurement adds more detail to the user’s picture of system performance. Phase rotation indication and socket polarity testing complete a comprehensive list of test functions.

Results are shown to the operator via the Dilog DL9118’s large LCD screen which offers dynamic, clear presentation of the instrument’s findings. A remote probe is included with the device and operation is made easier by a handy neck harness that allows hands-free use and easy function selection. Furthermore, the device is fully protected against potential damage caused by inadvertent connection cross phases, thereby safeguarding the user’s investment, and a 2-year warranty provides further peace of mind.

This sophisticated, accurate MFT comes in a handy toolbox-style carry case and is supplied with everything needed to carry out tests, such as test leads and crocodile clips, as well as meeting the standards for BS EN 61557 and EN61010.
